THE INNER LIBRARY & THE SVADHYAYA CIRCLE

The Inner Library is a sanctuary of books, it’s name is meaningful because it eludes to the nuanced understanding of Svādhyāya the 4th Niyama (second limb of Pantanjali’s eightfold path of Yoga). Svādhyāya is self-study, it means to study the sacred scriptures of the soul - because the scriptures are oriented in the nature of the Self + the universe, to study them is to therefor study yourself. The Sadhana Academy’s Library is composed of scriptures, stories, and teachings that have illuminated the path for generations - a collection of wisdom for the seekers, teachers and students. It is a dedication to Svādhyāya ~ self-study ~ through the lens of various teachings and traditions. Through reviews, reflections and guided inquiry we explore books not to simply acquire knowledge but to awaken, develop discernment and deepen our practice from the inside out. Each offering is selected to inspire deeper inquiry, meaningful contemplation and a more intimate relationship with your Sadhana - on and beyond the mat.

The Inner Library is the repository of wisdom and The Svādhyāya is the practice of engaging with that wisdom in shared community. Svādhyāya Circle is a monthly gathering devoted to the practice of self-study through sacred texts and literature devoted to the yoga philosophy, psychology, mindfulness, spirituality and so on. In the company of Sangha (community) we read, reflect, be inquisitive and contemplate together - allowing timeless teachings to illuminate our inner world. This is not a regular book club, but a space for inquiry, devotion, integration and awakening.
